Students of the primary school “Resad Kadic” in Kakanj learned about the importance of smart use of energy

With the aim of saving our planet with the help of the youngest, the superhero Beepster visited the elementary school “Rešad Kadić” in Kakanj and educated the students of this school about the importance of energy-efficient behaviour.
In an educational and fun way, the sixth-grade students of this school learned about the importance of smart use of energy. Global warming, its consequences for our planet, and the ways in which we can save the Planet were just some of the topics that Beepster discussed with the schoolchildren.
“It’s five to twelve. We have to help our Planet. We have to save rivers, forests and all other green areas of the planet Earth!” said the Beepster, who shared tips for smarter energy use, in order to reach this goal together. “Don’t leave the water running while brushing your teeth or washing. Turn off the light after leaving the room, and do not waste energy unnecessarily. And don’t forget, we have to turn off electronic devices and not leave them on standby,” added this superhero.
The Beepomat, a device that shows them energy-efficient behaviours, attracted a lot of students’ attention. Beepster also introduced them to a superthermal imaging camera, which shows how much energy is lost in the case of devices that are connected to electricity, during standby mode. The students were also shown an animated film about climate change on Earth and ways to use energy wisely.

At the primary school “Rešad Kadić” in Kakanj, thanks to the BEEP AF project, energy efficiency measures such as thermal insulation of facade walls were implemented; replacement of existing carpentry and/or locksmithing; thermal insulation of the ceiling above the heated space; thermal insulation of the roof; replacement of asbestos cover; installation of a thermal energy meter; partial replacement of lighting fixtures; installation of equipment for measuring energy consumption, and construction of equipment for monitoring temperature and humidity. The area covered by the project is 1,626.90 m2, and the amount of the investment was 238,940.36 BAM.

After learning that the Energy Efficiency Project for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BEEP) continued with education for the youngest, the superhero Beepster arrived on our Planet. This superhero has one mission, which is to raise awareness of energy-efficient behaviour.
In his super suit with his super-fun and super-educational equipment, he visited the “Safet-beg Bašagić” elementary school in Breza, where he talked with the sixth graders about the importance of preserving energy and nature. He presented them with Beepomat – an interactive educational device that simply illustrates the consequences of inefficient behaviour on our environment, i.e. shows how the irrational use of energy from fossil fuels leads to global warming.
On this occasion, Beepster checked what comes to mind of the younger generations when the topic of energy efficiency is mentioned, i.e. whether they encounter it enough at all, and the students listened carefully to Beepster, who combined in a fun way learning and technology into one useful lecture.

“Beepster visited us today to teach us to use electricity as little as possible. I will adopt the advice from the workshop; for example, when I leave the house, I will turn off the light, TV and charger. I will also pass on the messages from the workshop to all my friends and family,” said Nedžla Mamela, a student of the elementary school “Safet-beg Bašagić”.
In the elementary school “Safvet-beg Bašagić” in Breza, the BEEP AF project implemented energy efficiency measures such as thermal insulation of facade walls; thermal insulation of the ceiling; replacement of existing carpentry and/or locksmithing; installation of equipment for measuring energy consumption; installation of temperature and humidity monitoring equipment. The area covered by the project is 2,260 m2, and the amount of the investment is 496,273.14 BAM.
The Beepster, visibly in a good mood and happy because the students have adopted new knowledge, has already arranged visits to other elementary schools tomorrow.

The superhero Beepster, with the aim of educating the youngest about the importance of energy efficiency, began his tour of Bosnian elementary schools. The first educational workshop was held at the “Vares” elementary school in Vareš to the delight of all its students. After learning that the Energy Efficiency Project for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BEEP) continued with education for the youngest, Beepster decided to talk to the children personally and bring this topic closer to them in his own way.
He presented the students of the sixth grade with Beepomat – an interactive educational device that simply illustrates the consequences of inefficient behaviour on our environment, that is, it shows how the irrational use of energy from fossil fuels leads to global warming.
“The desire to learn new things should be instilled in children because learning is naturally innate in humans and ultimately we are happy when we learn something new or master a new skill. I believe that children today learned what small steps they can take to protect the environment on our planet,” said the superhero Beepster.

There was also talk about the importance of turning off electronic devices after use, and Beepster demonstrated this to the students by using a special camera with the help of which the youngest could “see” what the device looks like while it is using energy, and how to compare it with the one that was turned off.
An animated film, Beepomat and a special camera were just some of the tools used by this superhero, and this approach played a key role in keeping the students’ attention and creating a pleasant atmosphere that resulted in interesting questions from the students.
Energy efficiency measures were implemented in Vareš elementary school through the BEEP AF project: such as thermal insulation of facade walls, and ceilings, installation of equipment for measuring energy consumption, etc. The area covered by the project is 2,849 m2, and the investment amount was 290,515.60 BAM.

Sarajevo, September 14, 2022. –
Today, an international conference entitled “Improving the energy
efficiency enabling environment public building sector in Bosnia and
Herzegovina” was held in the City Hall, organized by the Federal Ministry
of Spatial Planning. The event brought together key actors in BiH’s energy
efficiency field, to discuss topics of importance for energy efficiency, with a
focus on financing models and capacity building with the aim of removing
existing obstacles to further develop market and increase energy efficiency in
the public buildings sector.
The vision of development in the field of energy efficiency of public
buildings in the coming decades was presented to those present, with reference
to the achieved results and obstacles related to the renovation of buildings in
previous years, and the importance of establishing an inventory of public
buildings and sustainable financing mechanisms, as well as the mobilization of
private capital, was pointed out.
“This international conference is an opportunity to inform the
public about everything that the Ministry has done in the last seven years,
positioning itself as an absolute leader in the implementation of energy
efficiency measures in public buildings. Through multi-year cooperation with
financial institutions and organizations such as the World Bank, UNDP, KfW,
Swiss Caritas, GIZ, and with the support of budget funds, EUR 53 million was
secured for the renovation of over 400 public purpose buildings, mostly
educational, health and administrative. Although the results achieved through
the mentioned projects are extremely significant, I would like to point out the
fact that every project has its own beginning and end. Well aware of this fact,
the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina established the
Revolving Fund as a self-sustaining financial mechanism with the aim of
collecting and managing financial resources for the implementation of energy
efficiency measures in public facilities in the Federation of Bosnia and
Herzegovina. The achieved results are the best example of good synergy between
different ministries, the project team and financiers, which should be followed
further because we still have a lot of work to do to improve energy efficiency.
As pointed out in the very introduction of the conference, over 2,000 public
buildings are still waiting for their turn to implement energy efficiency
measures. As a result, we have a significant reduction in energy costs in both
public and private budgets, and all of the above contributes to the economic
growth and accelerated development of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said
Federal Spatial Planning Minister Josip Martić.

The
results achieved through the projects of the World Bank for energy efficiency
in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BEEP and Additional financing for BEEP) support the
statement of Minister Martić. Through an investment of 39.3 million KM, 80
public buildings have been renovated so far, 1,963 green jobs have been
created, and the comfort of stay has been improved for more than 476,500 users.
By carrying out the activities within the BEEP project, it is expected that CO2
emissions will be reduced by almost 9,000 tons per year, while energy savings
on an annual level amount to almost 30,000 MWh.

The
conference was an opportunity to exchange opinions and experiences, and to
present examples of good practice in the field of energy efficiency in the EU
and neighbouring countries. The event served as a platform for presenting new
ideas and solutions, which will help Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of
fulfilling the requirements of the Energy Community Treaty and EU accession.

The conclusions of the conference will be delivered in the form of guidelines to all competent institutions in BiH, with the aim of prompt action in order to create a stimulating environment for energy efficiency in the public buildings sector in the next year, and initiate new investments for the energy renovation of the public sector.
