Planet Earth is suffering from the consequences of irresponsible energy consumption

Sixth-grade students of “Novi Šeher” elementary school in Maglaj had an unusual visit. Namely, the superhero Beepster landed from another planet and conveyed the message that planet Earth is suffering from the consequences of irresponsible energy consumption.

After learning that the Energy Efficiency Project for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BEEP) continued with education for the youngest, Beepster decided to talk to the children personally and bring this topic closer to them in his own way.

An animated film, a Beepomat and a special camera were used by Beepster to educate students about the importance of energy efficiency. This approach played a key role in keeping students’ attention and creating a pleasant atmosphere that resulted in interesting questions from students. The students promised Beepster that they will turn off the lights when they leave a room they are not using, use energy-saving light bulbs, unplug chargers, save water and plant at least one tree in the coming year.

“With the help of a thermal imaging camera, I showed the children the amount of unnecessarily consumed energy from devices that are connected to the energy source, while they are in standby mode. With the help of Beepomat, I showed them the difference between energy-efficient and energy-inefficient behaviour. I believe that the children will keep the promises they made to me,” said Beepster.

In the “Novi Šeher” elementary school, through the BEEP AF project, energy efficiency measures were implemented, such as thermal insulation of facade walls; thermal insulation of the ceiling; replacement of existing carpentry and/or locksmithing; partial replacement of lighting fixtures; installation of dynamic thermostatic valves. The area covered by the project is 1,081.63 m2, and the amount of the investment was 221,318.79 BAM.

The Beepster’s mission continues because Earth is the planet this superhero would love to live on and definitely visit again.
