A great number of energy efficiency measures have been implemented during 2016 with the reconstruction of public health and education facilities in the Federation of B&H.
Within the framework of this project, energy efficient measures were implemented in 18 public facilities in the Federation of B&H. The reconstruction included primary schools, high schools, medical centres and clinical centres from the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Zenica-Doboj Canton and Canton Sarajevo. After the implementation of measures for the rational use of energy, the project, worth more than 10,536,715.65 BAM, will result in an estimated annual savings of 1.562.920 KM.
The BEEP Project (Bosnia Energy Efficiency Project) is a positive example of the use of foreign investments towards energy efficiency in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Due to the efforts of the BEEP project, during 2016 more comfortable and higher quality work conditions were created for teachers and pupils in 13 schools in the Federation of B&H. The reconstruction of schools allowed for more than 10,000 children to continue their education in warmer classrooms. Energy efficient measures were also successfully implemented in six health facilities in the Federation of B&H, three of which were clinical centres in Sarajevo, Tuzla and Mostar.
The BEEP project’s activities will continue to focus on raising public awareness on the topic of energy efficiency, as well as on continuing to carry out reconstruction projects which will, with the implementation of energy efficient measures, reduce CO2 emissions. This project will also continue to give support to the government in fulfilling the obligations set by the Energy Community Agreement, which has committed to implementing the EU directives that pertain to energy efficiency. The goal is to demonstrate the advantages of energy efficient public sector facilities and to support the development of financing models for implementing energy efficient measures.
Today it is important for every individual to be energy efficient because of its various benefits. Sustainable energy efficiency presents an opportunity for directing our most important users, children. Teaching them about how energy efficient measures can be applied, helps them to create positive habits of smart energy use and results in their contribution to their community from an early age.
COMPARISON OF ENERGY EFFICIENT MEASURES PILOT PROJECT IN RENOVATED SCHOOLS OF FB&H HAS RESULTS FOR FIRST 15 DAYS OF MEASUREMENT
Based on calculated measurement made so far most space heating saved primary school «Hašim Spahić» from Ilijaš.

During first faze of largest energy efficiency project in country, BEEP-Bosnia Energy Efficiency Project, energy efficiency measures has been implemented on public health and education facilities in Federation of B&H. Within the framework of BEEP, additional activities have been started at the beginning of February, with goal to five selected schools implement comparison of energy efficient measures to achieve energy savings predicted by reconstruction project.
Schools that participate in this program are: Primary School “Hašim Spahić” Ilijaš, Primary School “Zahid Baručija” Vogošća, Primary School “Musa Ćazim Ćatić” Zenica, High School Žepče and First Primary School Zavidovići,

Representatives of BEEP project visited schools and took the measures of energy consumptions, and calculated monthly space heating and achieved energy savings in first 15 days of measuring. Energy savings were calculated according to special methodology based on reaching ideal temperature od 21 degrees inside the facility. Based on calculated measurement made so far most space heating saved primary school «Hašim Spahić» from Ilijaš. Best results were made because employees of this school implemented energy efficient behaviours on most adequately ways: they ventilated the rooms by energy regulation instructions, regulate thermo vents on radiators so they can reach 21 ºC in facility, monitor energy consumption on calorimeter and perform other energy efficient measures suggested by BEEP experts.

Additional results of energy efficient measures project comparison in reconstructed schools in first 15 days of measurement showed that Primary School “Zahid Baručija” from Vogošča and Primary School “Musa Ćazm Ćatić” from Zenica actually saved less energy than school from Ilijaš. Measurement data for First Primary School Zavidovići showed that more heating energy was spent than other schools. Minimal energy efficient behaviour used employees in High School Žepče.

Monthly heating calculated requirements and achieved savings will be compared every 15 days, and will last until the 15th of April this year. School which, in addressed period of measurement will achieve maximised energy savings estimated by elaborated methodology, will receive stimulation for continuation of work and endeavour – android mobile phone and thermal imaging camera for smartphone.
Ultimate goals of these project activities are maintaining heating comfort in public facilities in FB&H, as well working on education of school employees about rational energy consumption with usage of monitoring and evaluation. All activities for facilities beneficiaries should provide maximal usage of energy efficient measures, and finally save them money.
